Retro artwork made from vinyl records
Shawn McClure founded Skylinyl in the Australian summer of 2013 when he aquired a crate of records from his neighbors during their move to Croatia. Later the same day in Sydney, tempuratures soared to outrageous new highs at nearly 124 degrees fahrenheit and melted a few records that were left on a table in the backyard. Shawn began toying with the new medium and eventually cut the Sydney skyline into the malleable vinyl. Months later, someone noticed the art on the wall in Shawn's apartment and commissioned 10 Seattle skylines. Ten years later, Shawn has cut just under 6,000 records that would have otherwise been thrown away in a landfill. He lives and operates Skylinyl records in Seattle, WA.
